Arsenal make ‘approach’ to sign Man City prodigy Xavier Parker
Arsenal have expressed interest in signing highly rated English prodigy Xavier Parker from Manchester City this summer, according to TEAMtalk.
City have been one of England’s best talent factories in recent years, developing exciting prospects that have not only dominated the youth ranks but have also gone on to make notable impacts elsewhere.
Over the past six years, they have won four Premier League 2 titles, three FA Youth Cups (bringing their total to five), and five Northern Division Championships (bringing their total to 12).
Most notable is their recent academy success, the emergence of some exciting prospects. In the first team squad, Phil Foden, Rico Lewis, Nico O’Reilly, and James Trafford, who rejoined the club last summer, all won the domestic double last season.
Across the Premier League, Cole Palmer is arguably the club’s most successful export, while Morgan Rogers is tipped to make a big-money move this summer. Romeo Lavia, Carlos Forbs, Jeremie Frimpong, Eric Garcia, etc., are some of the club’s academy graduates playing for major clubs across Europe.
The next youngster that could join that list is Parker, who has been described as an ‘outstanding prospect’ by football talent scout Jacek Kulig.
One of the clubs looking to sign Parker is Arsenal, according to TEAMtalk, which claims that the north London giants have expressed interest in signing the youngster this summer.
‘Outstanding prospect’
City have also made an ‘outstanding offer’ to the 16-year-old to sign his first professional contract as they look to retain him, but he has yet to agree to it, according to the report.
This has put Arsenal on high alert, with the report adding that the Gunners have made a formal ‘approach’ to lure the attacking midfielder to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
However, Arsenal face stern competition in the race for Parker from Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Real Madrid, TEAMtalk adds.
The Gunners have established a youth-driven recruitment strategy towards bolstering their academy with exciting prospects while also signing proven players for the first team. This new model has ushered in the likes of Jaden Dixon and Evan Mooney to the Hale End Academy.
Parker, who provided 13 goal contributions last season, would be another excellent addition, but with other clubs showing interest, a deal won’t be easy to secure, as the youngster will likely consider a more attainable first-team pathway.
