Arsenal prepared to make move to sign Gilberto Mora
Arsenal are reportedly prepared to sign Club Tijuana youngster Gilberto Mora by triggering his release clause, as per Mexican outlet El Universal.
Since moving to the Emirates Stadium from Real Madrid, Martin Odegaard has established himself as an undisputed starter in the creative midfield position.
Although the Gunners won the Premier League title last term, the Norwegian failed to showcase his best due to fitness problems. So, speculation surrounding his future has been emerging in this window. However, he has guided Norway to the World Cup quarter-final, and they are set to face England.
Apart from him, Arsenal currently have Ethan Nwaneri and Eberechi Eze as options to deploy in the No.10 position. But Nwaneri is still very young and has struggled to break into Mikel Arteta’s starting line-up.
So, he joined Olympique de Marseille on loan in January to play regularly and develop his career. But the youngster failed to showcase his best in Ligue 1.
It has been suggested that the North London club are open to cashing-in on him this summer. Therefore, it appears Arsenal have started exploring options to sign a new CAM.
While citing and translating the print version of El Universal, Sport Witness report that Arsenal have expressed their interest in Mora, with Club Tijuana resigned to losing him. Apart from the Emirates club, Liverpool have also registered their interest in him.
Mora to Arsenal
The Mexican side are preparing to include an £18m release clause in his current contract, with Arsenal and Liverpool ‘planning’ to secure his services by triggering the clause.
Mora displayed promising performances for Mexico in the World Cup. He is a creative midfielder by trait but is also comfortable in the box-to-box role. Moreover, the 17-year-old can provide cover on the left wing if needed.
The Club Tijuana star is a talented player and possesses high potential. However, he doesn’t have any experience of European football yet, and there is a question mark over whether he is ready enough to help Arsenal achieve their lofty ambitions if he joins.
Nevertheless, it remains to be seen whether the North London club will eventually make a concrete approach to sign him this summer.
