Arsenal ‘determined’ to sign LOSC Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi

Arsenal are reportedly ‘determined’ to sign LOSC Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi, as per TEAMtalk.

After coming through Les Dogues’ youth system, the 18-year-old made his first team debut in 2023. He initially took time to adapt to senior football before establishing himself as a key starter last term.

In 42 appearances across all competitions, the defensive midfielder registered a solitary assist and helped his side qualify for next season’s Champions League by finishing third in Ligue 1.

After showing glimpses of his qualities at Stade Pierre Mauroy, Bouaddi has secured his place in Morocco’s World Cup squad, helping his country reach the quarter-final.

Now, TEAMtalk claim that Bouaddi’s recent eye-catching performances haven’t gone unnoticed as he has been attracting a lot of attention in this window.

Arsenal are ‘determined’ to purchase him and have already held talks to learn about the details of signing him. However, Lille have slapped a £100m price tag on his head, with his existing deal set to run until 2029. Lille want a similar fee to what Man City and Tottenham paid to sign Elliot Anderson and Sandro Tonali, respectively.

Les Dogues’ high valuation won’t be the only obstacle for Arsenal to finalise the operation, as Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Real Madrid are also plotting a swoop for him.

Los Blancos and the Merseyside club have even made contact to enquire about the details of signing him.

Bouaddi to Arsenal

Bouaddi is comfortable in the defensive midfield and box-to-box roles. He is 6ft 1in tall and possesses the necessary physical attributes to flourish in the Premier League.

Arsenal currently have Declan Rice, Mikel Merino, Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard as options for the deeper midfield positions. However, Norgaard failed to break into Mikel Arteta’s starting line-up last term, while Merino struggled with fitness problems.

On the other hand, Zubimendi displayed inconsistent performances. So, it appears Arteta is keen on purchasing a new midfielder.

Bouaddi is a talented player and possesses the potential to become a world-class midfielder in the future. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his services ahead of next season.
