Arsenal prepared to spend big to sign Morgan Rogers
Arsenal are reportedly prepared to spend big money to sign Aston Villa star Morgan Rogers, as per TEAMtalk.
The Gunners reinforced the squad by purchasing Kepa Arrizabalaga, Cristhian Mosquera, Piero Hincapié, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Eberechi Eze, Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyökeres last summer.
They reaped the rewards of those additions by winning the Premier League title and reaching the Champions League final last term. This summer, the North London club plan to remain active in the transfer market as they look to continue challenging on all fronts next season.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that Arsenal are considering upgrading the left flank and have identified Rogers as a ‘priority’ target. Mikel Arteta has been playing a key role in convincing the player, and he is open to moving to the Emirates Stadium.
So, the North London club believe they are ‘leading the race’ to finalise the operation. However, Aston Villa have no intention of parting ways with him, having recently tied the Englishman down to a fresh long-term contract until 2031.
Having qualified for next season’s Champions League, the Villans are in a strong position to convince the player to stay for one more year at least. However, Arsenal are prepared to spend more than £100m to persuade Aston Villa to cash-in on him.
The report state that, apart from Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are also interested in him, while the West London club are ‘huge admirers’ of the 23-year-old.
Rogers to Arsenal
Like Eze, Rogers is a creative midfielder by trait but is also efficient on the left flank. Moreover, he can provide cover on the opposite side if needed. He is quick, strong, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, and is efficient in creating opportunities for fellow attackers.
Having proven his worth in the Premier League, Rogers has secured his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England national team, helping his side reach the World Cup knockout stage.
He is a highly talented player and possesses the necessary attributes to flourish at the highest level. So, Rogers would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his services during this offseason.
