Arsenal remain keen on signing Valentino Livramento

By on June 10, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly keen on signing Newcastle United defender Valentino Livramento, as per TEAMtalk.

The Gunners currently have Jurrien Timber and Ben White as the right-back options. However, the Englishman has struggled with fitness problems in recent years and is set to remain sidelined for an extended period due to a serious injury.

Amid White’s injury problems, Timber has established himself as the first-choice right-back for Arsenal. However, he has had fitness issues in recent weeks and has been ruled out of the World Cup owing to a groin injury.

Cristhian Mosquera can provide cover in the right-back position if needed, but he is a centre-back by trait. So, it appears the Gunners are considering purchasing a new right-sided defender this summer.

TEAMtalk claim that Arsenal are ‘huge admirers’ of Livramento and believe the 23-year-old is ‘one of the best’ young right-backs in Europe. So, they could make a concrete approach to seal the deal over the coming weeks.

Apart from the North London club, Manchester City are also interested in him. However, Newcastle have no intention of letting the former Southampton star leave, with his existing deal set to run until 2028.

The Magpies want more than the world-record fee for a right-back to let Livramento leave. Paris Saint-Germain previously signed Achraf Hakimi from Inter Milan for around £58m, which remains the current world-record fee for a right-back.

Livramento to Arsenal

However, the report state that Arsenal have no intention of purchasing Livramento by matching Newcastle’s valuation due to his recent fitness problems.

As a result, the North London club have lined up Wesley Franca, Ivan Fresneda, Vanderson, and Marco Palestra as potential alternative options in-case they failed to sign Livramento.

Livramento is a right-back by trait, but is also efficient on the opposite side. He is quick, strong, comfortable playing out from the back and is also efficient in defensive contributions.

Having proven his worth in club football, the youngster has secured his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England national team for the World Cup.

He is a highly talented player and hasn’t reached his full potential yet. So, Livramento would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.
