Arsenal showing ‘strong’ interest in Eli Junior Kroupi
Arsenal are reportedly showing ‘strong’ interest in signing AFC Bournemouth forward Eli Junior Kroupi, as per TEAMtalk.
Although the Gunners won the Premier League title under Mikel Arteta’s guidance this season, they need to address several areas of the squad to continue challenging on all fronts over the coming years.
Centre-forward is one of those positions, despite already having Viktor Gyokeres, Kai Havertz, and Gabriel Jesus as options.
Jesus and Havertz have had fitness problems in recent years. On the other hand, the Brazilian found himself on the periphery this term after recovering from his injury. With his existing deal set to run until 2027, he might leave this summer.
Gyokeres, meanwhile, displayed inconsistent performances this season. So, Arteta didn’t even start him in the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that Arsenal are planning to reinforce the No.9 position this summer and are showing ‘strong’ interest in Kroupi after monitoring his development closely.
Apart from the North London club, Liverpool have also expressed their interest in the 19-year-old, as Andoni Iraola is a ‘huge admirer’ of him, having played a key role in his development. Moreover, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and PSG have also registered their interest in him.
Kroupi to Arsenal
Despite growing interest in the youngster, Bournemouth have no intention of letting him leave this summer, with his existing deal set to run until 2030. He doesn’t have a release clause, and Bournemouth won’t accept any offer.
Following Iraola’s departure, the Cherries have appointed Marco Rose as their new manager and are keen to provide him with a strong squad to help achieve their objectives next season.
After moving to Vitality Stadium last summer, Kroupi showcased his goal-scoring prowess in the Premier League, scoring 13 goals. He even scored in both league matches vs Arsenal.
The Frenchman, valued at around £60m by Transfermarkt, is a top-class player and possesses the potential to become one of the best strikers in the world. So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to secure his service this summer.
