Arsenal urged to sign Paris Saint-Germain’s Desire Doue

By on June 4, 2026

Former midfielder turned pundit Paul Merson has urged Arsenal to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Desire Doue.

Since moving to Parc des Princes from Stade Rennais a couple of years ago, the 21-year-old has enjoyed great success, winning two Ligue 1 titles, as many Champions League trophies, and several other major cup competitions.

After making 30 goal contributions across all competitions last term, he showcased his productivity once again this season. In 40 appearances in all tournaments, the youngster netted 13 goals and registered eight assists.

Having proven his worth in club football, Doue has secured his place in Didier Deschamps’ French national team and is likely to play a key role for his country in this summer’s World Cup.

Now, during a recent interview (via TEAMtalk), Merson states that although Arsenal won the Premier League title this season, they need to buy top-class talent this summer to continue challenging on all fronts over the coming years.

Atlético Madrid star Julian Alvarez would be an excellent option to strengthen the No.9 position. But they should also sign Doue from PSG by spending big money.

Merson said:

“What Arsenal have done is amazing, but they’ve got to go out now, for me, and buy that real, real… You know, I think Doué as well at PSG. I would like a Doué and an Alvarez, and if they got them, then wow – I dread to think who’s going to stop Arsenal!”

Arsenal urged to sign Doue

Doue is valued at around £104m by Transfermarkt and still has a contract until 2029. He has established himself as a key player for PSG, so they are highly unlikely to sanction his departure.

The Frenchman is a versatile player as he is comfortable on either flank. Moreover, he can provide cover centrally if needed. Mikel Arteta even likes having players like him, who can be deployed in multiple positions.

Doue is technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, and can finish off his chances. Moreover, he is efficient in creating opportunities for fellow attackers and also works hard without possession.

The PSG star is a top-class player and has already proven his qualities at the highest level. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his services.
