Arsenal interested in signing Man Utd’s Marcus Rashford

By on June 4, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, as per a recent report.

After coming through the Red Devils’ youth system, the 28-year-old established himself as a talismanic figure for his boyhood club. However, after falling out with Man Utd’s former manager, Ruben Amorim, he was allowed to leave last summer.

Barcelona signed him on a season-long loan deal, and the Englishman mainly played as a rotational option under Hansi Flick. Still, he showed his productivity this term, scoring 14 goals and registering 11 assists in 26 starts across all competitions. Rashford even helped the Catalan giants win the La Liga title and Supercopa de España.

However, as per a recent report (via ESPN), after purchasing Anthony Gordon, Barcelona are reluctant to make Rashford’s loan deal permanent by triggering the £26m option.

They want to renegotiate the terms, and Man Utd have no intention of selling their academy graduate for anything less than that sum. So, communication has broken down between the Red Devils and the Blaugrana.

Arsenal are interested in signing Rashford and have been monitoring his situation closely before making a potential swoop in this transfer window, as per the report.

However, the Gunners will have to overcome stiff competition to seal the deal as Chelsea, Newcastle United, and Tottenham Hotspur have also expressed their interest in him.

Arteta likes having versatile players, and Rashford can play multiple positions across the frontline. He is a left-winger by trait but is also efficient on the opposite side. Furthermore, he can provide cover in the No.9 position if needed.

Rashford to Arsenal

Arsenal currently have Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard as the left-wing options. However, the duo has struggled to showcase consistency in recent campaigns.

As a result, Mikel Arteta is said to be keen on upgrading the LW despite winning the Premier League title this season. A few names have been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium, with Rashford emerging as a new target.

He is a Premier League-proven player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. So, Rashford would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they eventually opt to purchase him.

It remains to be seen what Man Utd would demand to sell Rashford to a Premier League rival. However, his Transfermarkt valuation is £34m and he’d be a solid deal if the Gunners could snap him up for around that figure.
