Arsenal plot summer swoop to sign Eli Junior Kroupi
Arsenal are reportedly planning to launch a swoop to sign AFC Bournemouth star Eli Junior Kroupi, as per TEAMtalk.
The Cherries signed the 19-year-old from French side Lorient in last year’s winter window. But he didn’t move to Vitality Stadium before the end of the last campaign.
The Frenchman made 24 goal contributions in 30 Ligue 2 appearances last term and didn’t take any time to adapt to the Premier League’s physicality, scoring 13 goals in 20 starts this season.
He currently holds the record for scoring the most goals by a teenager in a Premier League season. The youngster has the ability to step up in big games, having netted twice against Manchester United and Arsenal.
Moreover, he has scored against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City. His last goal vs the Citizens helped Bournemouth to qualify for European football for the first time in the club’s history. Moreover, that goal helped Arsenal win the Premier League title after more than two decades.
Now, TEAMtalk claim that after being impressed by Kroupi’s development this season, Arsenal have expressed their interest in signing him to support Viktor Gyokeres.
Gabriel Jesus is set to enter the final year of his current contract this summer, so he could be allowed to leave. Moreover, Kai Havertz has struggled with fitness problems in recent years.
Kroupi to Arsenal
Apart from the North London club, Man Utd, Man City, and Chelsea have been monitoring Kroupi’s development closely before making a potential swoop during the offseason.
Having recently signed the striker, Bournemouth don’t want to let him leave, with his existing deal set to run until 2030. However, if they are forced to cash-in, they want at least £65m.
Although Arsenal have won the league this season, Gyokeres has displayed inconsistent performances. So, Mikel Arteta’s side could do with upgrading the No.9 position.
Kroupi has shown glimpses of his qualities in the Premier League this season and could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to lure him to the Emirates Stadium by defeating other clubs in this race.
