Arsenal are reportedly prioritising signing Real Madrid star Arda Guler, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.

The Gunners currently have Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze as options to deploy in the creative midfield position. However, the Norwegian has struggled to showcase his best this season due to fitness problems.

As a result, Mikel Arteta has used Bukayo Saka in the No.10 role at times. On the other hand, Ethan Nwaneri, who was sent out on loan to Olympique de Marseille in January to play regularly and develop his career, is another CAM option Arsenal currently have.

Still, Fichajes state that Arsenal are keen on reinforcing the creative midfield position this summer and have identified Guler as a priority option.

Having gone trophyless in the last two seasons, Real Madrid are planning to restructure under Jose Mourinho’s guidance, and Arsenal are willing to sign the Turkish international by taking advantage of this situation.

However, the Spanish giants have no intention of letting the 21-year-old leave in the upcoming summer window, with his existing deal set to run until 2029.

The Gunners have been ‘working tirelessly’ to convince the player to move to the Emirates Stadium and are prepared to launch a formal £78m proposal to persuade Los Blancos to cash-in on him.

Guler to Arsenal

Guler is a technically gifted left-footed creative midfielder by trait, but is also efficient in the box-to-box role. Furthermore, he can provide cover on the right flank if needed.

Although Real Madrid have displayed disappointing performances this season, Guler has showcased his productivity, scoring six goals and registering 14 assists in 50 appearances across all competitions.

Having proven his worth in club football, the youngster has established himself as a talismanic figure in the Turkish national team’s starting line-up.

Guler is a top-class player and isn’t a finished article yet. He possesses the potential to become one of the best players in the world. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure him to the Emirates club during the offseason.
