Arsenal keen on signing Como centre-back Jacobo Ramon

By on May 13, 2026

Arsenal are closely monitoring Como’s centre-back Jacobo Ramon ahead of a possible transfer to the Emirates Stadium next summer, according to Sports Boom.

The 6ft 5in centre-back first attracted major attention at Real Madrid last season after impressive displays for the academy side earned him promotion into Carlo Ancelotti’s senior squad.

During the Brazilian coach’s tenure, the defender made six first-team appearances and memorably netted a stoppage-time winner against RCD Mallorca in May 2025, performances that eventually convinced Como to complete a move for him in the summer.

Much of the attention around the Italian side since promotion has centred on the attacking football introduced by Cesc Fàbregas, although their unprecedented push towards European qualification this season has been largely driven by defensive solidity.

Across 36 Serie A matches, no side has conceded fewer than I Lariani’s tally of 28 goals, while no goalkeeper in the division has registered more clean sheets than Jean Butez, with 18.

Central to that defensive stability has been Ramón, whose commanding displays and organisation at the back – alongside Diego Carlos – have attracted growing interest from several clubs, including Arsenal, ahead of the upcoming summer window.

This is according to Sports Boom, which claims that scouts from the north London club were present at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia earlier this month in the 0-0 draw against Napoli to watch Ramon in action.

Ramon to Arsenal

The report adds that the Gunners’ boss, Mikel Arteta, has personally expressed his admiration for the centre-back’s profile as a viable fit for his squad.

As a result, the Premier League table leaders have earmarked the Spaniard as a ‘priority’ option to compete for a spot in the starting lineup next season, as per the report.

However, with Madrid expected to pocket up to 50% of his future sale, Sports Boom adds that Como will demand a concrete fee of £39-43m to sell Ramon, who is also of keen interest to Chelsea.

Mikel Arteta arguably possesses the strongest defensive depth in the Premier League. Last summer, the arrivals of Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié further strengthened a backline that already included William Saliba, Gabriel Magalhães, Riccardo Calafiori, Jurriën Timber, Ben White, and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

However, reminiscent of other European giants that have dominated their leagues and gone the distance in European competition, sufficient depth is a crucial factor.

Hence, a move for Ramon would give Arsenal a strong defensive unit that can maintain a high level of competitiveness in the event of injury or fatigue.
