Arsenal now eyeing move for Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Garcia

By on April 14, 2026

Arsenal have expressed interest in signing Real Madrid centre-forward Gonzalo Garcia next summer, according to Fichajes.

During the previous summer window, Arsenal strengthened multiple areas of the squad, with Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, and Eberechi Eze arriving to enhance Mikel Arteta’s attacking options.

While Viktor Gyokeres has delivered 12 Premier League goals and 18 across all competitions, with many of those strikes coming in the second half of the season, Gabriel Jesus has struggled to influence proceedings due to persistent injury setbacks.

Amid increasing speculation surrounding a potential exit, attention has already turned towards identifying centre-forward options, with the club reportedly linked to Bayer Leverkusen’s Christian Kofane.

Another name now under consideration is Madrid’s Garcia, who rose to prominence during last summer’s Club World Cup, finishing as the tournament’s top scorer with five goals.

Despite facing limited opportunities within Madrid’s star-studded frontline this season, Garcia, who will likely cost more than his £26m Transfermarkt valuation, has still shown flashes of quality when selected, recording six goals and two assists, which has led to growing interest from other clubs.

One of the clubs looking to sign the centre-forward is Arsenal, according to Fichajes, which claims that the Premier League leaders have expressed interest in the 22-year-old.

Gabriel Jesus’ replacement?

With Gabriel Jesus tipped to depart at the end of the season, the Gunners are exploring other possible options to reinforce their squad, and Garcia has been earmarked as a viable fit for the role, the report adds.

In a boost to the North Londoners, Fichajes reports that the Spanish centre-forward believes his time at Madrid is limited and the Emirates Stadium could become his next destination in the summer.

Hopes of completing a quadruple or even securing a treble have now faded for Arsenal following setbacks in the EFL Cup final and the FA Cup quarter-finals.

However, a remarkable Premier League and Champions League double is still within reach.

However, nerves have clearly begun to surface after the Gunners’ 2–1 league loss to Bournemouth on Saturday. With Manchester City claiming victory at Chelsea on Sunday, the gap has been reduced to six points, with City holding a game in hand ahead of a highly anticipated showdown at the Etihad Stadium next weekend.
