Arsenal have ‘strong interest’ in Newcastle forward Anthony Gordon
Arsenal have indicated a ‘strong interest’ in signing Newcastle United’s winger Anthony Gordon next summer, according to CaughtOffside.
After joining Everton from Liverpool at the age of 11, Gordon progressed steadily through the club’s academy system before making his Premier League debut at 18 in a 1–1 draw against West Ham United.
An 11-year stay eventually led to a big-money transfer to Newcastle, where the adaptable winger has enjoyed rapid development both collectively and individually, earning 17 caps for England and playing a role in ending the club’s 70-year trophy drought with their Carabao Cup triumph last year.
Even amid Newcastle’s struggles this season, he has remained influential, registering 22 goal involvements, with a particularly strong impact in the Champions League, where he has scored 10 goals and provided two assists in 12 appearances, including a hat-trick against Qarabag – making him only the third Newcastle player to achieve that feat in the competition and the first to do so during the knockout stages.
Now, according to CaughtOffside, Gordon is set to become a subject of keen interest from European and Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, next summer.
The report adds that the Gunners hold a ‘strong interest’ in the 25-year-old and have been conducting extensive checks on the winger’s performances this season.
‘Strong interest’
Given the North London club’s tactical structure and their success in developing attackers in recent seasons, Gordon could be intrigued by the prospect of playing under Mikel Arteta, CaughtOffside adds.
Although Newcastle were initially resolved to retain the Englishman beyond this summer, the Magpies could change their stance if they receive significant offers between £78m and £87m amid interest from Arsenal, according to the report.
However, the Premier League leaders face stern competition for Gordon’s signature, as the report claims that Bayern Munich and Liverpool have both expressed interest in the England international.
On the left flank, Arteta has Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and the versatile Noni Madueke, though none have reached Gordon’s output this campaign.
Notably, Martinelli and Trossard—alongside Bukayo Saka on the opposite wing—have each recorded 16 goal involvements, with the Brazilian edging ahead of the trio in terms of goals scored this season, having found the net 11 times.
Gordon would undoubtedly be a solid option to add more firepower to Arsenal’s attack, especially if any of their current exit options depart the club in the summer.
