Arsenal make contact to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia

Arsenal have reportedly made contact to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, as per Caught Offside.

After joining Les Parisiens from Napoli in January last year, the 25-year-old enjoyed a stellar debut campaign, winning the treble. In 32 appearances across all competitions, he made 15 goal contributions last term.

The Georgian displayed average performances during the first half of this season but has started showcasing his best once again this year, scoring 13 goals and registering eight assists in 39 appearances in all tournaments.

Moreover, the forward has been guiding his side to mount a title charge in Ligue 1, sitting four points ahead of second-placed RC Lens with a game in hand.

Kvaratskhelia even helped the French giants beat Liverpool 2-0 by scoring the second in the Champions League quarter-final first leg in midweek.

Now, Caught Offside claim that Arsenal are prioritising strengthening the left flank this summer and are showing ‘genuine’ interest in signing Kvaratskhelia, having been impressed by his recent eye-catching performances.

The Gunners have already taken a step by making contact to learn about the details of signing him. Apart from Arsenal, other clubs are also interested in signing him. However, PSG have no intention of parting ways with him, with his existing deal set to run until 2029.

Kvaratskhelia to Arsenal

However, the report state that Luis Enrique’s side might change their stance should they receive an offer of around £157m, and Arsenal are highly unlikely to seal the deal by spending that much money.

Kvaratskhelia is a right-footed left-winger by trait, but is also efficient on the opposite side and is comfortable with his left foot as well. He is quick, technically sound, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, and also works hard without possession.

The 25-year-old is currently at the prime stage of his career and has showcased his qualities at the highest level in recent times. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him.

With Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard struggling to showcase their best consistently, signing a new forward would be the right decision.

It is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a formal approach to secure his service in the upcoming summer transfer window.
