Arsenal accelerating efforts to sign Jacobo Ramon from Como

By on April 9, 2026

Arsenal are stepping up their efforts to sign highly rated Spanish centre-back Jacobo Ramon from Como next summer, according to CaughtOffside.

Last season, Ramón earned recognition at Real Madrid with six first-team appearances, including a memorable stoppage-time winner against RCD Mallorca in May. These performances led Como to secure his signature in the summer.

Standing at 6ft 5in, he has since established himself as a regular starter in Serie A, underlining his potential to develop into one of the top centre-backs in the game.

The 21-year-old has been one of Europe’s standout young defenders this season, scoring two goals in 26 league appearances and winning an impressive 149 duels, according to FotMob.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, with several elite European clubs—particularly those in the Premier League—now closely monitoring his progress.

One of the clubs looking to sign Ramon is Arsenal, according to CaughtOffside, which claims that the Premier League leaders ‘really like’ the centre-back as they step up efforts to reinforce their backline.

While Madrid have a 50% sell-on clause and a buy-back clause, which they could decide to trigger, the report adds that he’s not an immediate priority for the European giants, in a boost to the Gunners.

‘Ideal profile’

The North London club view Ramon as an ‘ideal profile’ as the long-term replacement for Gabriel Magalhaes, and they’re now accelerating efforts to sign the Spaniard, who is also of keen interest to Chelsea.

Cesc Fabregas has instilled attacking fluidity at Como since their promotion. Still, it is their defensive solidity that has been key to their European pursuit this season.

Ramon has been lauded for his aerial ability, which has been regularly on display in Serie A this season.

The Spanish U21 international is also outstanding in several defensive metrics, averaging 1.2 interceptions per 90 minutes in Serie A, placing him second on the squad.

He also ranks third in Fabregas’ team for accurate passes per 90 minutes, with 64.2 so far this campaign, highlighting his efficiency on the ball and his work rate off it.

With a contract at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia that runs until 2030, Arsenal will need to submit a concrete offer well above Ramon’s £21m Transfermarkt valuation to test Como’s resolve.
