Arsenal now eyeing move for PSG star Ibrahim Mbaye
Arsenal are plotting a swoop to sign Paris Saint-Germain right winger Ibrahim Mbaye, according to Sports Boom.
Mbaye progressed through the PSG academy and broke into the senior side at an exceptionally young age. In August 2024, at just 16 years and 205 days, he became the youngest player to start a competitive match for Les Parisiens, finishing the season with 24 appearances, scoring twice and registering three assists.
He has also gained experience on major stages, featuring in the UEFA Champions League and helping PSG lift the 2025 UEFA Super Cup.
His profile rose further during the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. After switching international allegiance from France to Senegal late last year, he emerged as one of the tournament’s standout performers, playing a key role as the Teranga Lions went on to win the trophy.
Although he has featured sparingly this season, with most of his 24 appearances being cameos, he has impressed whenever called upon, and his performances have caught the attention of several clubs.
Our sources have been told the talented 18-year-old is on the wish list of Arsenal and Aston Villa this summer.
Now, according to Sports Boom, Arsenal have expressed interest in a summer swoop for Mbaye to reinforce Mikel Arteta’s attack next season.
The report adds that the North London giants have scouted the 18-year-old on several occasions this season ahead of his potential transfer to the Emirates Stadium next summer.
Dowman could save Arsenal millions
However, the Gunners face stern competition from Premier League giants Aston Villa, who are closely monitoring the Senegalese, while PSG are also keen on extending his deal at the Parc des Princes, according to the report.
Mbaye is undoubtedly one of the most exciting prospects in Europe with his displays, particularly in the recently concluded AFCON tournament.
However, his output has been relatively low, although it could be argued that he is still young and has plenty of room to develop.
Mbaye, while an exciting talent, is not a clear upgrade on the Gunners’ current options and is arguably no better than Max Dowman, who has already registered two goal contributions in just three league appearances this season.
Hence, the Premier League leaders should focus on fully integrating the England U21 international into the first team as an understudy to Bukayo Saka, rather than spending on another prospect like Mbaye, who would likely cost more than his £21m Transfermarkt valuation and still require time to adapt to the league.
