Arsenal are plotting a swoop to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Senny Mayulu next summer, according to French outlet Media Foot.

Mayulu has emerged as a standout talent not only in Ligue 1 but also on the European stage, having risen through the PSG academy.

His first full season with Les Parisiens came last season, and it proved exceptional for the 19-year-old. He registered six goals and three assists, including PSG’s fifth in their emphatic UEFA Champions League final win over Inter Milan, becoming the second-youngest scorer in a final at 19 years and 14 days, behind Patrick Kluivert (18 years and 327 days).

This season, the French youngster has remained an important figure in Luis Enrique’s squad, making 28 appearances across all competitions while contributing five assists and five goals, including a ferocious strike against Chelsea in the Champions League.

Despite his progress, uncertainty surrounds his future, with just one year remaining on his contract and several clubs, including Arsenal, now showing interest.

This is according to Media Foot, which claims that Arsenal have launched a swoop to sign Mayulu next summer.

The French outlet adds that the Gunners have already made an offer to the France U21 international’s representatives, and a transfer move is currently underway as they look to get the deal over the line.

Should Mayulu refuse to extend his stay at the Parc des Princes, the North Londoners are optimistic of the versatile midfielder’s transfer to the Emirates Stadium, should he decide against extending his stay at the Parc des Princes, as per the report.

Despite the range of midfield choices currently at Arsenal’s disposal, long-term planning remains a key factor for Mikel Arteta. The midfield represents the most experienced area of the squad, with Ethan Nwaneri the only option aged under 26.

Mayulu fits the mould of a player who could be eased into the first team over time, with the potential to assume a larger role should any of the current midfield regulars move on.

However, despite having just one year left in his contract, PSG are prepared to get full value for his worth, according to an earlier report from CaughtOffside, which claims that the French champions will demand offers starting from £52m, which could potentially rise to £57-61m, to sanction his departure.
