Arsenal preparing formal offer to sign Leverkusen forward Christian Kofane

By on March 23, 2026

Arsenal are preparing a formal offer to sign Bayer Leverkusen centre-forward Christian Kofane next summer, according to Fichajes.

The 19-year-old had his first European stint in Spain after moving to Albacete from the Cameroonian side, AS Nylon, in 2024. He enjoyed a breakout season in Spain in 2024/25 by scoring eight goals in 20 games after the winter break, a performance that drew interest from several clubs before Leverkusen in the race to sign him last summer.

Since he arrived at the BayArena, Kofane has emerged as one of the most exciting forwards not just in Germany but in all competitions, having netted seven goals and provided eight assists in all competitions.

Arsenal fans may have seen a glimpse of his capabilities after constantly troubling William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães over the two-legged round of 16 tie against the Gunners in the UEFA Champions League. He won the most fouls and made three key passes in the first leg at BayArena.

In the second leg, despite being constantly man-marked, the 6ft 2in forward managed to complete 88.9% of his passes, an indication of his ability to operate under pressure.

Kofane has huge potential

It appears Arsenal’s board may have also been impressed by his displays, as Fichajes claims that the north London club have set their sights on Kofane as a possible option to reinforce their attack next summer.

The report adds that Gunners are looking for a young centre-forward with huge potential and have earmarked Kofane as a viable option, citing his versatility and dynamic qualities as a good fit for the Premier League.

The Premier League leaders are now preparing a formal offer of around £43m as they look to get the deal over the line for the Cameroonian’s transfer to the Emirates Stadium, according to the report.

Arsenal invested heavily last summer, with Viktor Gyökeres securing a big-money move from Sporting to reinforce Mikel Arteta’s attack.

However, despite netting 16 goals in all competitions this season, it is still glaring that the Swedish international is not at his rampaging best, and the injuries to Kai Havertz for most of the campaign have left them short of depth up front.

To compete on all fronts next season, Arsenal will need to add quality depth to their centre-forward ranks, and Kofane, in the two games against them, has proved he can be a good fit for that role.
