Arsenal plot swoop to sign Newcastle star Lewis Hall
Arsenal are reportedly planning to make a move to sign Newcastle United defender Lewis Hall, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
The 21-year-old started his youth career at Binfield before joining the Chelsea academy. Having risen through the West London club’s youth system, he made his first team debut in 2022.
However, he struggled to break into the Blues’ starting line-up; as a result, the youngster decided to leave to play regularly and develop his career. Hall initially joined the Magpies on a loan deal back in 2023 before the move became permanent the following year.
Hall has now established himself as an undisputed starter in Eddie Howe’s starting line-up, helping his side win the Carabao Cup last campaign.
This season, the Englishman has continued to showcase his best, although the Magpies have displayed inconsistent performances, making two goal contributions and keeping four clean sheets across all competitions.
Hall even managed to keep Barcelona star Lamine Yamal quiet in the Champions League last-16 first leg last week.
Now, Fichajes state that Arsenal have registered their interest in Hall after following his performances meticulously in recent days and could make a concrete approach to sign him during the offseason.
Hall to Arsenal
Apart from the Gunners, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Manchester United are also in this race; moreover, Bundesliga and La Liga clubs are keeping a close eye on him.
However, Newcastle don’t want to part ways with him, with his existing deal set to run until 2029. They are even planning to tie him down to a fresh term with a salary hike to fend off potential suitors.
The report claim that the Tyneside club don’t want anything less than £65m if they are eventually forced to cash-in on him.
Hall is a technically gifted left-footed left-back and possesses the necessary attributes to flourish in Arteta’s possession-based system. So, he would be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.
However, the North London club already have Piero Hincapié, Riccardo Calafiori and Myles Lewis-Skelly to deploy in the left-back position. So, they don’t need to spend big to add further depth to this position unless anyone leaves.
