Arsenal plotting swoop to sign Tino Livramento

By on March 13, 2026

Arsenal are plotting a summer swoop for the possible transfer of Newcastle United right-back Tino Livramento to the Emirates Stadium, according to The Telegraph.

After progressing through Chelsea’s highly regarded Cobham academy, the 23-year-old completed a move to Southampton in 2021. His period at St Mary’s, however, was disrupted by a severe knee injury that kept him sidelined for more than a year.

He subsequently signed for Newcastle United in 2023 and has thrived under Eddie Howe, contributing to the club’s historic EFL Cup victory against Liverpool a year ago and playing a role in their qualification for the UEFA Champions League last season.

During the current campaign, the English fullback has featured 21 times for Newcastle across all competitions, predominantly operating on the right flank, although his capacity to also cover the left provides valuable versatility.

It therefore comes as little surprise that Mikel Arteta, whose tactical setup relies heavily on versatility, is now eyeing a move for the youngster.

This is according to the Telegraph, which claims Arsenal are considering submitting a formal offer for the 23-year-old’s possible transfer to the Emirates Stadium next summer.

Livramento to Arsenal

The report adds that Livramento is reluctant to extend his contract at St James’ Park, which will run out in two years, prompting keen interest from the Gunners.

While Newcastle’s £60m price tag on the Englishman could deter Arsenal from pursuing other alternatives, the versatile fullback shares the same agent as Arteta, which could help simplify negotiations, according to the report.

Livramento has been a reliable outlet in Eddie Howe’s squad. He started and finished last year’s Carabao Cup final, which goes to show the level of faith the Newcastle boss has in his abilities.

He was also brought on in the 67th minute in the Magpies’ recent 1-1 draw against Spanish champions and last season’s UEFA Champions League semi-finalists Barcelona, where he put in an imposing performance against a threatening Blaugrana attack, finishing the game with a 90% passing accuracy.

His passing ability is also very evident in the Premier League, with an impressive 89.4% success rate. At the same time, his accurate long balls have been a useful weapon during turnovers and transitions, with his 63.0% success rate placing him high on the list.

With Ben White reportedly set for a summer departure, Libramento would be a good option to replace him, and his ability to play on either flank makes him an even more logical choice.
