Arsenal ‘preparing’ to launch bid to sign Anthony Gordon

By on March 6, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly ‘preparing’ to launch a formal proposal to sign Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon, as per TEAMtalk.

Since moving to St James’ Park from Everton, the 25-year-old has established himself as a talismanic figure, helping his side win the Carabao Cup last term.

Although the Magpies have been displaying inconsistent performances this season, Gordon has been productive, scoring 15 goals and registering five assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.

He even helped his side beat Manchester United 2-1 by scoring the opening goal in a crucial Premier League encounter in midweek. Moreover, the Englishman has guided his team to reach the Champions League last 16, and they are set to face Barcelona.

Having proven his worth in club football, Gordon has secured his place in Thomas Tuchel’s England national team.

Now, TEAMtalk claim that after being impressed by Gordon’s performances this season, Arsenal are keen on purchasing him as a potential option to replace Gabriel Martinelli.

The Brazilian has struggled to showcase his best in recent seasons, scoring a solitary Premier League goal thus far this campaign.

Gordon to Arsenal

Newcastle have even demanded the South American as part of a potential part-exchange deal for Gordon. But, the Gunners are ‘preparing’ to launch a formal £75m bid to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in the summer, with his existing deal set to run until 2030.

However, the report state that Man Utd have identified Gordon as a priority target to reinforce the frontline. So, he isn’t short of potential suitors at the moment.

Gordon is a right-footed left-winger by trait, but is also efficient in providing cover in the centre-forward position if needed. He is extremely quick, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, is efficient at taking penalties, and also works extremely hard without possession.

He is a Premier League-proven player and is currently at the prime stage of his career. Therefore, this would be the perfect time for him to take the next step in his career.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services during the offseason.
