Arsenal join race for Ajax star Sean Steur
Arsenal have been linked with a move for AFC Ajax youngster Sean Steur, according to reports from TeamTalk.
The North London club are planning ahead for next summer and want to add fresh energy to their midfield. They are also focused on signing young players who can grow into key roles.
Steur, just 18, is seen as one of the brightest young talents in the Eredivisie. His steady rise has caught the eye of several major European sides.
The teenager came through the well-known Ajax academy, famous for producing gifted midfield players. Over the years, the Dutch side have built a strong record of shaping calm and technical footballers.
Breakthrough Season at Ajax
After beginning the campaign with Jong Ajax, Steur earned his place in the senior side. He made his first-team debut last season and has not looked back since.
Under interim coach Fred Grim, the young midfielder has grown in confidence. He now plays an important part in the senior squad despite his age.
Steur is a composed holding midfielder who is comfortable with both feet. He likes to receive the ball deep and start attacks from the back.
This season, he has featured 30 times in all competitions for Ajax. During that run, he has scored two goals and provided four assists.
Those numbers highlight both his attacking support and his work in midfield. For a player still in his teenage years, that is impressive progress.
Arsenal Face Strong Competition
Arsenal are now showing a keen interest but they are not alone in tracking the Dutch prospect. Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City have also been linked with interest in the midfielder, as per the report.
That level of attention shows how highly he is rated across Europe. Clubs see him as a long-term option rather than a short-term fix.
Ajax, however, are keen to keep hold of their rising star. The club believe he can become a central figure in their future plans.
Steur has even drawn comparisons with Frenkie de Jong due to his smooth style and control on the ball.
Ajax are in a strong position during any talks. The midfielder remains under contract until 2028, which gives the Dutch club clear negotiating power.
Any move would likely require a serious offer. For now, Arsenal continue to monitor a player who could shape their midfield for years to come.
