Expected Arsenal line-up against Wolverhampton Wanderers
Arsenal are set to travel to Molineux Stadium to take on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
Following a disappointing 1-1 draw against Brentford last week, the Gunners’ lead at the top of the table has reduced to just four points, with Manchester City sitting second with 53 points from 26 matches.
However, Arsenal will be coming into this game off the back of a confidence-boosting 4-0 victory over Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fourth round last weekend.
On the other hand, Wolves are almost certain to be relegated at the end of this season, languishing at the bottom of the table with just 9 points. They are currently 18 points behind safety.
Arsenal won the reverse fixture vs Wolves 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium, courtesy of two own goals.
Team news
Mikel Merino and Kai Havertz aren’t in contention to feature due to their respective issues, while Martin Odegaard is also unavailable due to an injury.
Ben White picked up a knock vs Wigan last weekend but is fit enough to be involved tonight, while Riccardo Calafiori is also available.
Predicted line-up
Arteta made wholesale changes to his starting line-up for the FA Cup fixture, but is expected to recall all of his key players tonight. So, David Raya would be between the sticks ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga.
William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes should be the centre-back pairing, while Jurrien Timber and Piero Hincapié might be the two fullbacks for the North London club. So, Cristhian Mosquera, White, Calafiori, and Myles Lewis-Skelly could be among the substitutes.
Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice are expected to be the midfield pairing for Arsenal, with Eberechi Eze likely to be the creative midfielder following an impressive performance last weekend.
In that case, Christian Norgaard would have to make do with a place on the bench despite enjoying a bright outing vs Wigan.
Bukayo Saka should be on the right flank, ahead of Noni Madueke, and Leandro Trossard would be on the opposite side. Viktor Gyokeres is expected to lead the line for Arsenal; therefore, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli might feature off the bench if needed.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Wolves
Raya; Timber, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapié; Zubimendi, Rice, Eze; Saka; Gyökeres, Trossard
