Arsenal battling with PL rivals to sign Anthony Gordon

Arsenal are reportedly battling Premier League rivals for the signing of Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon, according to a recent report.
Although Gabriel Martinelli has scored only one goal in the Premier League this season, he has shown his productivity in the Champions League and FA Cup, making 10 goal contributions in eight appearances. Overall, he has tallied 13 goals and assists this term.
However, he has entered the final 18 months of his current contract, and like the Brazilian, Leandro Trossard’s existing deal is also set to expire at the end of next season.
The Belgian will turn 32 later this year and has registered only one assist in the last 11 appearances across all competitions. So, it appears the North London club are considering upgrading the left flank in the summer.
As per a recent report (via Fichajes), Arsenal are interested in signing Gordon and could make a concrete approach to secure his services ahead of next season.
However, purchasing the Englishman won’t be straightforward as Newcastle have slapped a mammoth £95m price tag on his head, with his existing deal set to run until 2030.
Moreover, Manchester City and Liverpool are also keen on him, with the Merseyside club leading the race at the moment. So, Arsenal will have to overcome several obstacles to finalise the operation.
Gordon to Arsenal
Gordon likes to play on the left flank but is also efficient in the centre-forward and the right-wing roles. He is quick, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, can deliver excellent crosses from the flanks, is efficient in taking penalties, and also works hard without possession.
Gordon enjoyed a stellar campaign a couple of years ago but struggled to showcase his best last term. This season, he has shown glimpses of his qualities once again, making 15 goal contributions across all competitions.
He is a Premier League-proven player and has secured his place in the England national team. So, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they sign him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to lure him away from St James’ Park ahead of next season.
