Predicted Arsenal line-up against Wigan Athletic

Arsenal are set to host League One side Wigan Athletic at the Emirates Stadium in the FA Cup fourth round fixture on Sunday evening.

The Gunners have reached this stage of this competition by defeating Portsmouth 4-1 in the previous round. On the other hand, Mikel Arteta’s side will be coming into this game off the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw against Brentford in midweek’s Premier League fixture.

Meanwhile, Wigan are currently in League One’s relegation zone and haven’t won a single league game this year yet. Moreover, they defeated Hemel Hempstead, Barrow, and Preston North End in the previous rounds of the FA Cup.

Team news

Mikel Merino and Max Dowman aren’t in contention to feature this weekend due to their respective serious injuries. Moreover, Kai Havertz has recently picked up a fresh problem and has been ruled out for several weeks.

William Saliba wasn’t available due to illness in midweek and might get a breather in this encounter before next week’s Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

On the other hand, Martin Odegaard sustained a knock vs Brentford and may not feature this weekend. Bukayo Saka returned in midweek after recovering from a minor issue.

Predicted line-up

Mikel Arteta is likely to make several changes to his starting line-up from midweek, with Kepa Arrizabalaga set to be between the sticks ahead of David Raya.

Cristhian Mosquera and Riccardo Calafiori could be the centre-back pairing, while Ben White and Myles Lewis-Skelly should be Arsenal’s two fullbacks. Therefore, Gabriel Magalhaes, Jurrien Timber, and Piero Hincapié could be rested for this game, with an eye on the Wolves fixture.

Christian Norgaard may play in the defensive midfield, with Declan Rice alongside the Dane, and Eberechi Eze in the creative midfield. So, Martin Zubimendi would feature off the bench if needed.

Noni Madueke is likely to keep hold of his place on the right flank after putting his name on the scoresheet vs the Bees. Gabriel Martinelli could be on the opposite side, with Gabriel Jesus set to be the centre-forward for the North London club. Therefore, Saka, Leandro Trossard, and Viktor Gyokeres would be among the substitutes.
