Arsenal linked with AC Milan’s Christian Pulisic move
Arsenal have been credited with interest in AC Milan forward Christian Pulisic, according to reports from Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.
The 27-year-old United States international has settled well in Italy. He has become an important part of Massimiliano Allegri’s set-up this season.
Pulisic has delivered 10 goals and two assists across competitions. His output has strengthened Milan’s attacking threat during the current campaign.
Despite his strong form, talks over a new contract have not yet been finalised. That delay has alerted other clubs to his situation with Arsenal among his suitors.
Contract delay puts clubs on alert
The report states that discussions between Milan and Pulisic have yet to produce an agreement. No official written offer has been presented in recent months.
Pulisic is said to be content at San Siro. However, he would have expected a formal proposal by now. The lack of concrete progress has left the attacker surprised. That uncertainty has opened the door for interested sides.
Arsenal are monitoring developments closely, as per the report. The north London club are weighing up a possible move if contract talks continue to stall.
Liverpool are also reported to be keeping tabs on the former Chelsea player. Interest in his services is not limited to one Premier League side.
Versatility adds to his appeal
Pulisic’s ability to operate in several attacking roles makes him an attractive option. He can feature on either wing with ease. He is also capable of playing as a second striker.
In addition, he can operate behind the main forward as an attacking midfielder. That flexibility adds depth and variety to any squad. It is one of the reasons clubs continue to follow his situation.
At present, Transfermarkt value him at around £52 million. That figure could decrease if Milan fail to secure his long-term future.
Should negotiations remain unresolved, Milan may face increasing pressure. Interested clubs could test their resolve with an approach.
For now, Pulisic remains a Milan player and continues to perform at a high level. Arsenal and Liverpool will be watching closely in the coming weeks.
Much may depend on whether Milan move swiftly to secure his signature.
