Arsenal ‘in the mix’ to sign Bayern Munich’s Lennart Karl
Arsenal are reportedly ‘in the mix’ to sign Bayern Munich forward Lennart Karl, as per a recent German report.
The 17-year-old started his youth career at Viktoria Aschaffenburg before joining Eintracht Frankfurt. However, he returned to Viktoria Aschaffenburg in 2022, and after being impressed by the youngster’s performances, the Bavarian club decided to sign him.
Karl made his first team debut for Bayern Munich in the Club World Cup encounter against Auckland City last summer before establishing himself as a regular starter this season.
In 17 starts across all competitions, he has scored seven goals and registered three assists thus far this season. Moreover, he has been helping his side to mount a Bundesliga title charge.
Now, as per a recent German report (via TEAMtalk), Arsenal are ‘in the mix’ to sign Karl after repeatedly sending scouts to watch him in action closely in the Champions League this season.
Apart from the Gunners, Manchester City and Chelsea are also interested in signing him, having been impressed by his recent eye-catching performances.
However, Real Madrid are currently frontrunners to buy Karl, as the player is a fan of the Spanish giants and his dream is to play at the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu.
Karl to Arsenal
The report state that the German giants have no intention of letting Karl leave this season and are looking to tie him down to a fresh term, with his existing deal set to run until 2028. Vincent Kompany’s side have slapped a £69m price tag on his head to keep the vultures away.
Karl is a left-footed, technically gifted right-sided forward, but is also comfortable in the creative midfield position.
He can play threading passes between the lines, has an eye for scoring goals from distance, can dribble past opposition defenders in tight areas, and also works hard without possession.
The German is considered one of the best young players in the world and would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to secure his service by defeating other clubs in this race.
