Arsenal in fierce battle to sign Real Betis defender Natan

By on January 29, 2026

Arsenal are reportedly locked in fierce competition to sign Real Betis centre-back Natan, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.

After joining Serie A giants Napoli from Brazilian side Red Bull Bragantino in 2023, the 24-year-old struggled to find regular game time at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.

So, he joined Los Verdiblancos on a loan deal ahead of last season before signing permanently last summer. The Brazilian showed glimpses of his qualities under Manuel Pellegrini last term, helping his side reach the Conference League final before losing to Chelsea.

This season, he has continued to display promising performances for the Andalusian side, registering a solitary assist and keeping eight clean sheets across all competitions.

Moreover, the South American has been helping his side push for a European place finish in La Liga, sitting only two points behind fifth-placed Espanyol.

Now, Fichajes state that Natan’s recent impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed, as he has started attracting a lot of attention. Arsenal have expressed their interest in him and could make a concrete approach.

Real Madrid, Newcastle United, and Chelsea are also in this race, with the Blues preparing to launch a formal £35m proposal to secure his service.

Natan to Arsenal

Although several English clubs are keen on him, the player’s preference is to continue in La Liga. Meaning, Los Blancos may get a clear pathway to seal the deal if they make a concrete approach.

The 24-year-old is valued at around £17m by Transfermarkt and has a contract until 2030. So, Real Betis are in a strong position to demand a sizable amount of money if they are forced to cash-in on him.

Natan, standing at 6ft 2in tall, is a left-footed, technically gifted centre-back. He has shown glimpses of his qualities in La Liga and possesses the necessary physical attributes to flourish in the Premier League.

Arsenal currently have Riccardo Calafiori, Piero Hincapié, and Gabriel Magalhaes as options to deploy on the left side of the defence. So, Arsenal don’t need to invest more money to add further depth to this area.

Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services.
