Arsenal linked with shock move for Jamal Musiala
Arsenal have been linked with a surprise move for Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala, according to reports from Bayern Space and TeamTalk.
The links have come as a shock to many, given Musiala only signed a new long-term deal with Bayern Munich last year. Despite this, the reports suggest Arsenal are keeping a close eye on the German star as they look to fix key issues in midfield.
Mikel Arteta’s side have struggled at times to break down deep defences this season, with creativity often lacking in tight games. Musiala is seen as a player who could solve that problem with ease due to his skill, movement, and sharp decision making.
The German international has already built a strong reputation as one of the most exciting attacking midfielders in Europe. Although injuries have limited his time on the pitch this season, his quality has never been in doubt at club level.
When fit, Musiala remains one of Bayern Munich’s main attacking threats, capable of changing games on his own.
Arsenal eye creative fix in midfield
Arsenal’s interest is said to be driven by their need for more creativity in the final third of the pitch. Musiala’s ability to carry the ball, beat defenders, and create chances fits the profile Arsenal are looking for.
The Gunners believe adding a player of his level would raise their attacking play and offer more solutions in big matches. However, any deal would come with serious financial demands, making it a complex move for the North London club.
Musiala’s current contract includes a salary structure that rises sharply with each season he remains at Bayern Munich. He currently earns around £27.6 million per year, according to the reports.
That figure is set to rise by ten percent each season, starting from the beginning of the next campaign. By next season, his pay is expected to earn £30.4 million per year.
The final year of his deal in 2030 would see his wages rise to £44.5 million. This deal is widely viewed as the biggest contract ever handed out in German football history.
Release clause and future Plans
Another key part of Musiala’s contract is a release clause that drops with every transfer window. The clause was first set at £150 million when the deal was signed, making a move almost impossible at the time.
After two transfer windows, that figure has already fallen to around £127.5 million for the upcoming summer. Reports suggest it could drop further to about £115 million by the summer of 2027.
That period is seen inside Bayern as a realistic time for Musiala to consider leaving the club. Arsenal are showing strong interest ahead of that window, as per the report, but could face competition from Chelsea.
Musiala is also believed to dream of playing for Barcelona at some point in his career. However, Barcelona’s financial limits mean such a move looks unlikely in the short term.
A move to Spain may only be possible later in the contract, when the clause drops even further. By 2029, the release clause could fall to around £85 million, making a deal more possible.
Another option would be Musiala seeing out his contract and leaving on a free transfer in 2030.
For now, Arsenal remain watching closely as they weigh up a bold move for one of Europe’s finest talents.
