Arsenal ‘keen’ on signing Leipzig star Yan Diomande
Arsenal are reportedly ‘keen’ on signing RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande, as per TEAMtalk.
Despite failing to win the last two Premier League matches, the Gunners haven’t lost ground in the title race as Manchester City have failed to win their last four league matches, accumulating only three points.
On the other hand, Aston Villa have earned only one point in the last two league games. So, Mikel Arteta’s side are currently at the top of the table with a seven-point lead.
Like in the Premier League, Arsenal are also at the top of the Champions League table after winning all seven matches. They are the only team to achieve that feat this season and have secured their place in the round of 16.
Arsenal’s latest victory in Europe’s elite club competition came in midweek, where they thrashed Serie A leader, Inter Milan 3-1, courtesy of Gabriel Jesus’ brace, with Viktor Gyokeres scoring the third.
Meanwhile, the Gunners’ hierarchy have seemingly continued to explore options in the market to strengthen the squad and maintain their dominance under Arteta’s guidance.
TEAMtalk claim that Arsenal are considering reinforcing the left flank and are ‘keen’ on Diomande. So, they could make a concrete approach to secure his service this year.
Diomande to Arsenal
However, purchasing the 19-year-old won’t be straightforward for Arsenal as Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich have also expressed their interest in him, having been impressed by his recent eye-catching performances.
Having recently moved to Red Bull Arena, Diomande still has a contract until 2030. So, Leipzig are in a strong position to demand a big fee if they are forced to cash-in and have slapped a whopping £87m price tag on his head.
Diomande likes to play on the left flank but is also comfortable on the opposite side. In 18 appearances across all competitions, he has scored seven goals and registered three assists thus far this season.
The Ivory Coast international has already showcased his qualities in the German top-flight, and the North Londoners will be hoping that he will be able to replicate that in the Premier League if he were to move to the Emirates Stadium this year.
