Arsenal are reportedly ‘working’ on a deal to sign Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler, as per Caught Offside.

Despite already having Martin Odegaard and Ethan Nwaneri as options to deploy in the creative midfield position, the Gunners decided to purchase Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace for a big fee last summer.

The 27-year-old enjoyed a promising start this season, but has struggled to continue the momentum, failing to score or assist since November.

On the other hand, having struggled to find regular game time thus far this season, Nwaneri has decided to join Olympique de Marseille on a loan deal until the end of this season to play regularly and develop his career.

Odegaard, meanwhile, has failed to showcase consistency thus far this season, scoring a solitary goal and registering four assists in 22 appearances across all competitions.

Now, Caught Offside claim that following Odegaard and Eze’s tepid performances thus far this season, Arsenal are considering signing a new creative midfielder and have already started ‘working’ on a deal to sign Guler.

The Gunners hold a long-term interest in the Turkish international as they have been keeping an eye on him since October 2024 and have continued to monitor his development closely in recent times.

Guler to Arsenal

Although Guler isn’t keen on leaving the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu just yet, Real Madrid might be ready to cash-in on him should they receive a formal proposal worth at least £78m, with his existing deal set to run until 2029.

However, the report state that purchasing the 20-year-old won’t be straightforward for Arsenal as Chelsea have also entered this race and have already made contact over this deal on multiple occasions.

Guler is a left-footed attacking midfielder by trait, like Odegaard. Upon moving to the Spanish capital from Fenerbahce, he initially struggled to find regular game time before playing regularly this season.

In 31 appearances across all competitions, he has scored three goals and registered 11 assists thus far this term.

He is a top-class player and would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his services in January or next summer.
