Arsenal linked with Livramento as Manchester City lead race

Arsenal have been linked with a possible move for Newcastle United defender Tino Livramento, according to reports from CaughtOffside, with Manchester City also pushing hard.
The Gunners are said to admire the England full back, but they are not alone in their interest ahead of the summer window.
Manchester City are believed to be in a stronger position at this stage, putting Arsenal under pressure if they want to stay in the race.
Arteta keen on defensive reinforcements
Mikel Arteta continues to look for ways to strengthen his defence as he plans ahead for next season. The Arsenal manager is understood to be a long time admirer of Livramento and values his pace and calm style of play.
Livramento has grown into one of the most trusted players in Eddie Howe’s system at Newcastle United. Despite being just 23 years old, the defender has already shown a level of maturity beyond his age.
Arsenal believe adding depth at full back will be key as they compete across several competitions. The club are expected to explore their options but remain aware of the strong competition involved.
Man City hold advantage in transfer battle
However, Arsenal have work to do as according to the report, Manchester City are currently closest to securing Livramento’s signature and are believed to be leading the chase as things stand.
Livramento is also said to favour a move to City, with the club viewed as his preferred destination. That stance could prove decisive, even if Arsenal step up their interest later in the window.
Newcastle are aware of the growing interest and are in no rush to sell the defender cheaply. Livramento featured 19 times for Eddie Howe’s side before injury problems halted his progress. He is currently sidelined, but his value within the squad remains high.
Transfermarkt places a value of £35m on the defender at present. However, Newcastle are expected to demand a higher fee given his age and importance.
The Magpies see Livramento as a key part of their future plans under Howe. Any club hoping to sign him will need to present a strong proposal.
For Arsenal, the situation remains one to watch rather than one close to completion. City’s position in the race places them firmly in control for now.
Arsenal may need to move quickly if they want to change that outcome.
