Arsenal learn price tag to sign Corinthians’ Breno Bidon
Arsenal have been informed of the cost they will incur to sign Corinthians midfielder Breno Bidon.
After letting Thomas Partey and Jorginho leave for free last summer, the Gunners decided to revamp the engine room by purchasing Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard from Real Sociedad and Brentford, respectively. As a result, the North London club currently have the duo plus Declan Rice and Mikel Merino as midfield options.
However, Norgaard has struggled to find regular game time thus far this season, and he has signed a short-term contract until the end of next season. Arsenal have seemingly already started exploring options to replace the 31-year-old.
It has recently been reported that Arsenal are looking for a young option to strengthen the midfield and have identified Bidon as a serious option. Moreover, the North London club have already opened talks over this deal.
Now, as per a recent report (via Metro), Corinthians are resigned to losing the 20-year-old amid growing interest in him and have slapped a £21m price tag on his head, with his existing deal set to run until 2029.
Bidon is a technically gifted left-footed box-to-box midfielder by trait, but is also efficient in the defensive midfield position. Moreover, he can provide cover in the creative midfield role if needed.
Bidon to Arsenal
Bidon helped his side come away with a point by scoring a late equaliser against São Paulo in the Paulista Serie A1 last weekend.
He is a highly talented player and possesses the potential to reach the top. Therefore, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually makes a concrete approach to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in January or next summer.
Meanwhile, although Arsenal only managed to come away with a point against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League last weekend, their title rivals Manchester City and Aston Villa lost their games.
As a result, they have extended their lead at the top of the league to seven points. Now, Mikel Arteta’s side will take on Manchester United in the Premier League this weekend.
