Arsenal have reportedly held ‘discussions’ over a deal to sign RB Leipzig star Yan Diomande, as per Caught Offside.

The Gunners decided to reinforce the frontline by purchasing Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, and Eberechi Eze last summer. The Swede is a centre-forward and has found it difficult to prove his worth in the Premier League yet.

Madueke is a left-footed right-winger by trait, and although he can provide cover on the opposite side, Mikel Arteta has been using him as Bukayo Saka’s deputy.

Eze, on the other hand, is a versatile player as he can play in the left flank and the creative midfield role, with the Spanish boss mainly using him as an option to support Martin Odegaard.

Arteta has continued to keep faith in Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard on the left wing. However, the Brazilian’s development has plateaued in recent years, and he has struggled in the Premier League thus far this season.

Now, Caught Offside claim that Arsenal have started exploring options to replace Martinelli and have identified Diomande as a serious option after being impressed by his performances for Leipzig this season.

The North London club have been monitoring his development closely since 2024 and have already held internal ‘discussions’ to finalise the operation this year.

However, the report state that Chelsea, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich are also interested in him. Liverpool are even showing the strongest interest in securing his service and are ready to make a formal approach, with the player a big fan of the Reds.

So, it won’t be straightforward for Arteta’s side to sign Diomande. Moreover, Leipzig have slapped a whopping £87m price tag on his head, and considering his existing deal is set to run until 2030, they are in a strong position to stay firm on their valuation.

Diomande joined the German side from Leganés last summer and has already established himself as one of the best young players in the world. He is a left-winger by trait but is also comfortable on the opposite side.

The 19-year-old possesses the potential to become a world-class forward in the future, so he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they eventually manage to secure his service in January or next summer.
