Arsenal face growing fight for Stankovic signature
Arsenal interest in Club Brugge midfielder Aleksandar Stankovic is facing fresh pressure after Borussia Dortmund entered the race for his signature, according to reports from Bild Via InterNews.
The north London side have been tracking the young midfielder as they plan ahead for future squad changes. However, competition is now building from Germany, adding another hurdle to Arsenal plans.
Borussia Dortmund are currently reshaping their squad following recent departures from the club. Cole Campbell and Pascal Groß have both moved on, leaving gaps in midfield areas.
Dortmund are now believed to be looking at Stankovic as a possible option to refresh their engine room. The Bundesliga side see him as a player who fits their style and long term model.
Stankovic is currently valued at around £13 million, based on figures from transfermarkt.
Dortmund move adds pressure on Arsenal
Arsenal were previously linked with Stankovic as they explore ways to add depth and energy to midfield areas.
Dortmund interest changes the picture and could force Arsenal into quicker action. The German club have a strong record of developing young players and offering clear pathways.
This could be appealing to Stankovic as he considers his next career step. Arsenal will need to weigh their options carefully as the race develops. Waiting too long could see another club move ahead in talks.
Inter plans could complicate any deal
Stankovic joined Club Brugge from Inter last summer in a deal worth around £8.24 million. At the time, the move was seen as a chance for regular football and steady growth.
Since arriving in Belgium, he has impressed with calm displays and strong work rate. Those performances have helped raise his value in a short space of time.
His form has also drawn interest from clubs outside Germany and England. This has placed Club Brugge in a strong position ahead of any talks.
Inter are also said to be watching closely from the background. The Italian club included a buy back clause when Stankovic left last summer.
Reports suggest Inter could activate that clause in the upcoming summer window. If that happens, it would complicate matters for both Arsenal and Dortmund.
Arsenal now face a delicate situation as they balance patience with urgency. Moving early could be key if they want to avoid missing out.
