Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has claimed that Arsenal star Declan Rice could ‘dominate’ Liverpool on Thursday night.

Since moving to the Emirates Stadium from West Ham United for a club record fee, the 26-year-old has showcased his qualities at the highest level in recent years.

He has been guiding the Gunners to mount a Premier League title charge this season. They are currently at the top of the table with 48 points from 20 matches.

After missing out on the Aston Villa game due to a knee injury last week, the 26-year-old returned to action against AFC Bournemouth last weekend. He helped his side win the game 3-2 by scoring a brace.

In 27 appearances across all competitions, the England international has netted four goals and registered five assists thus far this campaign.

Meanwhile, Arsenal will face off against Liverpool in a crucial Premier League fixture tomorrow, and they endured a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Anfield in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

Now, during a recent interview (via Metro), Redknapp says that midfield battle is very important in big matches like these, and considering Rice’s recent ‘great form’, he could ‘dominate’ Liverpool.

Redknapp said:

“Declan Rice has been in such great form yet again for his club and he was the difference at the weekend against Bournemouth. In these big games I always think that midfield battle is so important, and I think he could dominate it.”

Since losing to Aston Villa at Villa Park last month, the Gunners have been in tremendous form in recent matches, winning the last seven matches across all competitions.

They are currently the favourite to win the Premier League title, and considering they added squad depth last summer, they are in a strong position to challenge on all fronts this season.

Meanwhile, following the Liverpool encounter, Arsenal will face Portsmouth in the FA Cup this weekend before taking on Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg at Stamford Bridge next week.

The North London club will resume their Premier League action with a visit to the City Ground to face relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest on 17 January.
