Arsenal launch formal bid to sign Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz

By on January 6, 2026

Arsenal have reportedly launched a formal proposal to sign Real Madrid forward Brahim Diaz, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.

After coming through Manchester City’s youth system, the 26-year-old joined Los Blancos back in 2019. However, he initially struggled to find regular game time at the Spanish capital, so he went out on loan to AC Milan to develop his career.

The Moroccan stayed at San Siro Stadium for three years, winning a Serie A title, before returning to Real Madrid in 2023. He featured as a rotational option under former manager Carlo Ancelotti in the last two seasons and even showcased his productivity.

However, under Xabi Alonso’s guidance this season, Diaz has struggled, starting only four games in the Champions League and La Liga thus far.

He has been out with the Moroccan national team to play in AFCON, helping his side reach the quarter-final. In four matches, he has netted as many goals.

Now, Fichajes state that Arsenal have expressed their interest in signing Diaz as Mikel Arteta believes the Real Madrid star would be a ‘perfect’ option to play in his system.

The Gunners have already launched a formal £43m proposal to sign the forward, with his existing deal set to expire at the end of next campaign.

Diaz to Arsenal

Los Merengues highly regard Diaz, but they feel Arsenal’s bid is lucrative for a non-regular starter. Therefore, they might be open to letting him leave by accepting the offer.

Diaz is a versatile forward as he is comfortable in the right flank and the creative midfield position. He is comfortable with both feet and has Premier League experience.

He is a talented player and is currently at the prime stage of his career; therefore, the African could be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they purchase him.

However, having already got Noni Madueke and Bukayo Saka as options for the right flank and Martin Odegaard, Eberechi Eze, and Ethan Nwaneri for the creative midfield role, the North London club don’t need to invest more to add further depth to these positions.

Therefore, Arsenal would be better off saving the money to reinforce other areas of the squad.
