Arsenal ‘preparing’ to launch formal bid to sign Arda Guler
Arsenal are reportedly ‘preparing a formal offer’ to sign Real Madrid midfielder Arda Guler, as per Spanish outlet Fichajes.
Following a comfortable 4-1 victory over title rival Aston Villa and Manchester City’s 0-0 draw against Sunderland, the Gunners have established a four-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.
Meaning, Mikel Arteta’s side have a breathing space before taking on AFC Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium this weekend. On the other hand, the Citizens will take on managerless Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
In the meantime, following the commencement of the winter transfer window, the rumour mill has started linking players with a move to the Emirates Stadium.
Fichajes state that despite already having Martin Odegaard, Eberechi Eze, and Ethan Nwaneri to deploy in the creative midfield position, Arsenal are keen on signing Guler.
The North London club hold a long-standing interest in the Turkish international, having been linked with him even before his move from Fenerbahce to the Santiago Bernabéu.
Arsenal ideally want to sign him on a loan deal in January with an obligation to make the move permanent next summer. Arteta feels Guler would be a ‘perfect fit’ to play in his possession-based system.

However, Xabi Alonso is a big fan of the 20-year-old and doesn’t want to lose him just yet. As a result, Arsenal are ‘preparing’ to launch a formal £70m proposal to persuade Los Blancos to cash-in on him and are ‘confident’ that they would be able to secure the midfielder’s service.
In his first two seasons at Real Madrid, Guler struggled to break into the starting line-up. However, under Alonso, he has been playing regularly this season, making 10 goal contributions across all competitions.
Having showcased his qualities in club football in recent years, Guler has established himself as a talismanic figure for the Turkiye national team.
He is a creative midfielder by trait and is a top-class player. Therefore, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to secure his service in this winter transfer window.
