Arsenal plot swoop to sign Eintracht Frankfurt’s Brown

Nathaniel Brown

Arsenal are reportedly considering making a move to sign Eintracht Frankfurt defender Nathaniel Brown, as per a recent German report.

The Gunners currently have Riccardo Calafiori, Piero Hincapié, and Myles Lewis-Skelly as options to deploy in the left-back position. Moreover, Jurrien Timber is comfortable providing cover in this area, although he is a right-sided defender by trait.

However, Calafiori has struggled with fitness problems since joining from Bologna ahead of last season. On the other hand, Lewis-Skelly is very young and needs time to reach his full potential.

As a result, it appears the North London club have started exploring options to sign a new left-back. Bild(via Football London) report that Arsenal have expressed their interest in Brown and have been monitoring his development closely before making a potential swoop.

Frankfurt initially signed him from FC Nürnberg in January 2024, but he didn’t move to Deutsche Bank Park until the following summer. The Germany international still has a contract until 2030, and Frankfurt have slapped a £57m price tag on his head.

The 22-year-old has started attracting a lot of attention, having displayed impressive performances thus far this season. In 18 starts across all competitions, the youngster has made six goal contributions. He even provided an assist against Barcelona in the Champions League.

Brown to Arsenal

He has helped his side keep three clean sheets and has been guiding the Eagles to push for a European place finish in the Bundesliga this term. Having displayed impressive performances in the Deutsche Bank Park, Brown has secured his place in Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany national team.

Brown is a left-footed left-back by trait but is also comfortable in the LWB position. He is quick, technically sound, efficient in delivering excellent crosses from the wide areas, and also good at making surging runs from deep.

The German is a highly talented player and could become a top-class left-back in the future. Therefore, he would be a great coup for Arsenal should they purchase him.

However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure him to the Emirates Stadium in January or next summer.
