Predicted Arsenal line-up against Wolverhampton Wanderers
Following a disappointing defeat against Aston Villa in the Premier League, Arsenal returned to winning ways by defeating Club Brugge in the Champions League in midweek.
Now, the Gunners will take on struggling Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night.
Arsenal currently have just a two-point lead at the top of the table with Manchester City sitting in second position. On the other hand, Wolves are languishing at the bottom of the table with just two points from 15 matches.
Team news
Gabriel Magalhaes, Cristhian Mosquera and Kai Havertz are set to remain sidelined due to their respective injury problems. Moreover, William Saliba and Leandro Trossard are in doubt owing to their injuries.
Declan Rice was absent in midweek due to illness, and there is a question mark about his availability for this fixture, while Jurrien Timber picked up a knock vs Aston Villa and is in doubt.
Thankfully, Gabriel Jesus has returned after remaining sidelined over the last few months and is in contention to be involved in this game. However, Riccardo Calafiori is suspended after picking up his fifth booking of the season last weekend.
Predicted line-up
David Raya is set to continue in goal, while Piero Hincapié should be the left-sided centre-back. Although Timber is doubtful for this match, he could be fit enough to start alongside the Ecuadorian at the back.
Ben White is likely to keep hold of his place in the right-back position, while Myles Lewis-Skelly would be on the opposite side to provide cover for the absent Calafiori.
If Rice can’t recover in time, Martin Zubimendi is expected to be the deep-lying playmaker. On either side of the Spaniard, Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze may commence and complete the midfield trio for Arsenal. Therefore, Mikel Merino is likely to feature as a substitute if needed.
Bukayo Saka would return to his preferred right flank after starting on the bench in midweek, while Gabriel Martinelli might be on the opposite side after scoring an excellent goal against Club Brugge. Viktor Gyokeres should lead the line for the hosts; in that case, Jesus and Noni Madueke could feature as substitutes.
Expected Arsenal line-up vs Wolves
Raya, White, Timber, Hincapié, Lewis-Skelly, Zubimendi, Eze, Odegaard, Martinelli, Gyokeres, Saka
