Arsenal hold talks to sign HNK Rijeka star Toni Fruk

Arsenal have reportedly opened negotiations to sign HNK Rijeka star Toni Fruk, as per Croatian outlet Sport Klub.
The 24-year-old joined the Croatian side from Fiorentina a couple of years ago. In his debut campaign for The Rijeka Whites, he showed glimpses of his qualities, making 18 goal contributions across all competitions.
The midfielder also displayed impressive performances last term, netting 14 goals and registering 10 assists in 39 appearances in all tournaments.
This season, Fruk has continued to showcase productivity, scoring nine goals and notching up two assists. After proving his worth in the HNL, he has secured his place in the Croatian national team, helping his nation qualify for next summer’s World Cup.
Now, Sport Klub report that, having been impressed by Fruk’s recent eye-catching performances, Arsenal have registered their interest in signing him.
The Gunners have already opened negotiations to finalise the deal, and the player will move to the Emirates Stadium soon. The player is valued at around £8m and has a contract until 2027.
Fruk to Arsenal
Fruk is a left-footed creative midfielder by trait but is also capable of providing cover in the centre-forward position if needed. He is technically sound, can play threading passes between the lines, is efficient in creating opportunities for fellow attackers, and also has an eye for scoring goals from distance.
The Croatian is a talented player and possesses high potential. So, he might be a shrewd acquisition for Arsenal should they eventually sign him.
However, having already got Ethan Nwaneri, Martin Odegaard, and Eberechi Eze as options to deploy in the CAM role, Arsenal don’t need to add further depth to this position.
Moreover, Mikel Arteta’s side signed Viktor Gyokeres to strengthen the centre-forward position last summer. Additionally, the Emirates club have Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus, and Mikel Merino to deploy in this area.
Therefore, the North London club might be better off saving the money to reinforce other areas of the squad instead of purchasing Fruk in January or next summer.
Meanwhile, following a disappointing defeat against Aston Villa in the Premier League, Arsenal will face off against Club Brugge in the Champions League tonight before taking on Wolves next weekend.
