Arsenal are set to travel to Villa Park to take on Aston Villa in the Premier League at lunchtime today.

After overcoming Brentford’s challenge comfortably, the Gunners have accumulated 33 points from 14 matches, sitting five points ahead of second-placed Manchester City.

On the other hand, Unai Emery’s side have won the last eight out of nine league matches; as a result, they have climbed up to third in the table despite enduring a difficult start this season.

The Villans are currently six points behind the Gunners, and victory in this fixture will take them very close to the top of the table. Aston Villa have won two out of the last four matches vs Arsenal, drawing once.

Team news

Arsenal have already suffered numerous injury problems thus far this season, with Kai Havertz and Gabriel Magalhaes currently out with their respective problems.

Moreover, Leandro Trossard and William Saliba have picked up minor injury problems and have been sidelined in recent days. So, they are doubtful for this fixture.

The new additions to their casualty list are Declan Rice and Cristhian Mosquera, who both sustained injuries last time out against Brentford. The Spaniard might be out for a few weeks, while the Englishman’s availability is in doubt for today.

After remaining sidelined for several months owing to a serious knee issue, Gabriel Jesus was named in the matchday squad in midweek but didn’t feature.

Predicted line-up

David Raya is expected to continue between the sticks. Piero Hincapié should be paired up with Jurrien Timber in the centre-back position if Mosquera or Saliba can’t be involved in this fixture.

In that case, Ben White might be in the right-back position after displaying a bright performance midweek, while Riccardo Calafiori could be on the opposite side for the North London club.

Martin Zubimendi is set to continue in the deep-lying playmaker position, and Mikel Merino may commence alongside his compatriot if Rice can’t recover in time.

Martin Odegaard may not be ready to start two games in just three days, having just returned from an injury. So, Eberechi Eze is likely to be in the CAM role.

Bukayo Saka should return to the starting line-up after putting his name on the scoresheet in midweek, while Noni Madueke might be on the opposite side. In that case, Gabriel Martinelli would feature off the bench. Viktor Gyokeres may lead the line for the visitors in this important fixture.
