Arsenal ‘seriously considering’ signing Jean-Mattéo Bahoya
Arsenal are reportedly ‘seriously considering’ signing Eintracht Frankfurt forward Jean-Mattéo Bahoya, as per Sky Germany.
The German side have produced a few top-class attackers in recent years, with Randal Kolo Muani, Omar Marmoursh and Hugo Ekitike being among them.
However, Kolo Muani has failed to flourish in his career at the highest level. After struggling at Paris Saint-Germain, he showcased glimpses of his qualities at Juventus on loan. But they couldn’t buy him permanently last summer before Tottenham Hotspur signed him on loan on deadline day.
Meanwhile, Marmoursh has failed to replicate his Bundesliga form for Manchester City thus far. As for Ekitike, he enjoyed a bright start for Liverpool but has been going through a lean patch in recent weeks.
Now, Bahoya is the latest young talent to emerge from Frankfurt’s pipeline. Since moving to Deutsche Bank Park Stadium from Ligue 1 side Angers last year, the 20-year-old has been playing as a rotational option, making three goal contributions in six Bundesliga starts thus far this season.
As per Sky Germany (via Sport Witness), after being impressed by the Frenchman’s recent eye-catching performances, Arsenal are ‘seriously considering’ signing the forward.
Bahoya to Arsenal
The German side are aware of the Gunners’ interest in the youngster but haven’t received any formal proposal yet. Bahoya still has three and a half years left in his current contract at Deutsche Bank Park Stadium, and they are ready to let him leave for a fee of around £61m.
Bahoya is a left-sided forward by trait, and Arsenal currently have Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard as primary options to deploy in this position. Moreover, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze can provide cover in this area if needed.
Therefore, Arsenal don’t need to spend big to sign Bahoya next year. Moreover, he is still very young and needs time to develop his career. So, there is a question mark whether he is ready to help Mikel Arteta’s side to achieve their lofty ambitions immediately if he were to move to the Emirates Stadium.
Nevertheless, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to secure his services in January or next summer.
