Pundit heaps praise on Arsenal star Bukayo Saka
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has heaped praise on Arsenal star Bukayo Saka following his ‘impactful’ performance against Chelsea on Sunday.
Since rising through the Hale End academy, the Englishman has established himself as a talismanic figure for his boyhood club. Mikel Arteta has even included him in the leadership group.
He made more than 25 goal contributions in the last two consecutive seasons and has continued to display his productivity this campaign, scoring six goals and registering two assists across all competitions.
The 24-year-old even helped his side come away with a point against Chelsea by assisting the equalising goal on Sunday. Now, on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand says that Saka is ‘unplayable’ on his day and is like Mohamed Salah.
Neither is a tall player, but they are strong, and it is hard to dispossess them. Moreover, the pundit claims that Saka is a very important and ‘impactful’ player of Arsenal, so if he can play at his best throughout this season, the North London club might finally be able to win the Premier League title.
Ferdinand said:
“When he’s[Saka] on it he looks unplayable. He’s got that strength like Mohamed Salah. He’s small in frame and size when you look at him, but do you ever see him get pushed off the ball? Especially when he’s got his back to play and get the ball side-on.
“You don’t really see people take the ball off him or put him on his arse. He’s a strong little guy. He’s very efficient and very effective and it’s a very nice assist. He’s one of those players that if he starts coming into form at the right time of the season, anything could be possible with this Arsenal team. I think he’s that important because he’s that impactful.”
Pundit lauds Saka
Saka sustained a hamstring injury last season, which kept him out for several months, and it was a key reason for Arsenal’s failure to win the Premier League title.
As a result, Arteta opted to buy Noni Madueke from Chelsea to add depth on the right flank. Saka was out injured for a few weeks, and Madueke provided cover during that period this season. But the former Chelsea star was out injured over the last couple of months before returning recently.
Arsenal have suffered from numerous injury problems this season, but they added depth last summer. As a result, they have managed to maintain the title charge, sitting at the top of the Premier League table.
