Ratings: Arsenal ease past Bayern with a 3-1 win at the Emirates
Arsenal continued their impressive form in Europe with a convincing 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
Goals from Jurrien Timber, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Martinelli sealed a deserved win for the Gunners.
The hosts went ahead midway through the first half when Jurrien Timber rose highest to nod home Bukayo Saka’s corner.
Bayern equalised ten minutes later as Lennart Karl fired home following a superb move from the German champions.
After the break, Arsenal increased their intensity and took full control of the game. Substitute Noni Madueke restored their lead with just over twenty minutes left, finishing from close range after a perfect cross from Riccardo Calafiori.
Later, Gabriel Martinelli sealed the result, calmly rolling the ball into an empty net after Manuel Neuer had rushed off his line but missed his clearance.
Arsenal player ratings
David Raya – 7/10
Had no chance with Bayern’s goal but commanded his area well. Claimed crosses confidently and distributed the ball with calmness.
Jurrien Timber – 8/10
Delivered another strong performance at right-back. Opened the scoring with a fine header and stayed defensively sharp throughout.
William Saliba – 7/10
Imposed himself at the back and organised the defence superbly. Picked up a booking, which was the only negative in an otherwise solid display.
Cristhian Mosquera – 7/10
Impressive once again, winning several duels and handling Harry Kane with maturity. Strong in the air and decisive in his challenges.
Myles Lewis-Skelly – 4/10
A tough outing for the youngster. Lost possession often and was caught out for Bayern’s goal. Substituted after sixty-eight minutes.
Eberechi Eze – 7/10
Controlled the tempo quietly and linked play neatly. Missed a big chance early on but provided a clever assist for the third goal.
Martin Zubimendi – 8/10
Battled hard in midfield, pressed aggressively, and distributed well. His energy and composure helped Arsenal dominate the second half.
Declan Rice – 9/10
Man of the Match. Drove forward with intent and bossed the midfield. His set-piece delivery caused Bayern constant trouble.
Bukayo Saka – 7/10
Provided the corner for Timber’s opener and kept Bayern’s defence busy. Slightly below his sharpest form but still effective.
Leandro Trossard – 5/10
Missed a clear chance early in the match and was forced off injured before half-time.
Mikel Merino – 6/10
Worked hard up front and found space well, but lacked the finishing touch to make his mark after squandering two good headed opportunities.
