Arsenal summer arrival Eberechi Eze has spoken about life at his new club and highlighted the influence of Jurrien Timber, who he believes has gone beyond the high hopes he already had for him.

The winger shared his thoughts during an appearance on GOAL’s Beast Mode On podcast.

Eze reflects on his first months at Arsenal

Eze joined Arsenal in a £60 million deal after a busy summer window.

The club also added Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi and Cristhian Mosquera.

The England international has settled well and has become a regular part of Mikel Arteta’s plans. He has two goals and three assists in all competitions so far.

The move marked a big step in his career. He has grown into his role with confidence and has used the support around him to find his rhythm.

He has also spoken about his path from a young talent to a key figure for both Arsenal and England.

During the podcast, Eze explained how he has been embraced by a squad full of hunger and desire. He said: “Everyone is sort of what you expect them to be. The expectation of all the players is high.”

He then expanded on one team-mate who has stood out to him.

I will say one player who has gone even beyond the high expectation I already had – because I had heard good things about him – was Jurrien Timber.”

He went on to describe Timber in a way that showed clear admiration.

He is a special player and a special guy.”

Praise for Timber and the team culture

Eze also spoke about the environment inside the club. He said the group have created a place where everyone is eager to grow.

He explained: “I think for me, in an environment of people and you have a culture that is geared towards improving, these guys all want to improve.”

The winger then explained how that culture pushes him to raise his own level.

So for me it is a pleasure to be part of it and to see guys like him who perform the way they perform.”

He added that watching players like Timber has had a strong effect on him.

Who carry themselves the way they carry themselves. It is inspiring, for sure.”

Eze hopes the team’s strong work ethic can help Arsenal chase major trophies this season. His attention now turns to the Premier League meeting with Tottenham Hotspur, where he aims to play a key role for the club he grew up supporting.
