Arsenal lead race to sign Man Utd target Karim Adeyemi
Arsenal are reportedly leading the race ahead of Manchester United to sign Borussia Dortmund forward Karim Adeyemi, as per TEAMtalk.
The Gunners decided to reinforce the attacking department by purchasing Noni Madueke, Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokeres last summer. However, the former Chelsea star has been out injured over the last few weeks, while Gyokeres picked up an issue just before the international break.
Moreover, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus have been sidelined with serious knee injuries. Although the Brazilian returned to full training after recovering from his problem before the international break, the German has suffered a setback in his recovery.
On the other hand, Gabriel Martinelli also sustained an injury before the November international break. Having suffered numerous fitness problems so far this season, it appears Mikel Arteta is planning to add further depth to the frontline next year.
TEAMtalk claim that Arsenal are interested in signing Adeyemi, and the player would be open to moving to the Premier League. His existing deal will run until 2027, and Dortmund have handed him a fresh deal with a salary hike.
However, the player isn’t willing to accept the offer as he wants more money. So, Adeyemi’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has started exploring options in the market for his client and has held talks with Man Utd.
Adeyemi to Arsenal
However, Arsenal are currently ‘best positioned’ to seal the deal as the forward prefers a move to the Emirates Stadium over Old Trafford.
Adeyemi is a versatile left-footed winger as he is comfortable on either flank. The 23-year-old is extremely quick and has made six goal contributions across all competitions thus far this season.
Having showcased glimpses of his qualities in Signal Iduna Park, the youngster has secured his place in Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany national team.
Adeyemi, valued at around £53m by Transfermarkt, is still very young and isn’t a finished article yet. He possesses the potential to reach the top; therefore, the forward might be a great coup for the Gunners should they purchase him.
However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually make a concrete approach to lure him away from Signal Iduna Park in January or next summer.
