Arsenal eye move to sign Edwin & Holger Quintero
Arsenal are reportedly planning to sign Edwin and Holger Quintero, who are twin brothers, from Independiente Del Valle, as per the Daily Mail.
South America have continued to produce top-class players over the years, with Ecuador being one of those countries. Moisés Caicedo, Piero Hincapié, and Willian Pacho have all been showcasing their qualities in Europe in recent years after coming through Ecuador’s talent production hub, Independiente Del Valle.
Kendry Paez is another player to have made the move to Europe, having risen through Los Negriazules’ youth system. The South American stars have again produced more top talents, with Edwin and Holger being among them.
Now, the Daily Mail report that Arsenal have expressed their interest in signing the duo, having monitored their development closely in recent months.
Edwin is a technically gifted right winger and is also efficient in providing cover in midfield. He has even drawn comparisons to a young Neymar. On the other hand, Holger is a creative midfielder and links well with his brother.
The duo are still 16 and Arsenal can sign them immediately; however, they can’t move to Europe before turning 18. Real Madrid and Chelsea have previously sealed similar deals for young South American talents, with Franco Mastantuono, Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes, Endrick, Andrey Santos, and Paez being notable examples.
Arsenal eye move for talented duo
Mikel Arteta has developed several young players since becoming the Gunners’ boss back in 2019. Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, and Gabriel Martinelli have all flourished under the Spaniard’s tutelage.
On the other hand, Ethan Nwaneri, Max Dowman, and Myles Lewis-Skelly are the latest young players who have been given first-team minutes by Arteta following their time with the Hale End academy. So, Arsenal would be the right destination for Edwin and Holger to develop and reach their full potential.
Continuing to strengthen the squad with talented young players is necessary to maintain their level. Therefore, it would be the right decision for Arsenal to sign Edwin and Holger; however, it is going to be interesting to see whether the North London club eventually manage to lure the duo to the Emirates Stadium in January or next summer.
