Arsenal in fierce battle to sign Bournemouth’s Semenyo
Arsenal are reportedly in a fierce battle to sign AFC Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, as per Caught Offside.
Since moving to Vitality Stadium from Bristol City, the 25-year-old has established himself as a talismanic figure. He has even been one of the most in-form forwards in the Premier League thus far this season, netting six times and notching up three assists in 11 appearances.
Only Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland has made more goal contributions than the Ghanaian international. So, it is not a surprise to see the upper echelon of English clubs have started registering their interest in him.
Caught Offside claim that Arsenal are pondering purchasing the African and could make a concrete approach next year.
However, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Manchester City are also in this race, while the Red Devils are planning to accelerate their efforts to seal the deal ahead of other teams.
The Cherries offered a fresh term to the forward until 2030 last summer and have no intention of parting ways with him. However, Arsenal might be able to persuade Andoni Iraola’s side to change their stance should they make a formal proposal worth around £80m.
Semenyo to Arsenal
The Gunners reportedly wanted a new left-winger last summer, but after purchasing Eberechi Eze, they didn’t buy a natural left-sided forward. Anthony Gordon, Rafael Leao, and Ademola Lookman were linked with a move, while the Portuguese reportedly remain a target for the Emirates club.
Mikel Arteta has been using Leandro Trossard on the left flank this season, while Gabriel Martinelli has played as a backup option. However, the Brazilian sustained an injury and has been sidelined in recent weeks.
Eze, Noni Madueke, and Gabriel Jesus are capable to provide cover on the left flank if needed. So, on paper, Arsenal are well-resourced in this position, but they could do with upgrading this position with a prolific option.
Semenyo has proven his worth in the Premier League, and if he can continue performing at his best throughout this season, the 25-year-old might be a great coup for the North London club should they eventually manage to secure his services.
