Slavia Prague head coach, Jindrich Trpisovsky, has hailed Arsenal star Max Dowman as a ‘great player’.

After rising through the Gunners’ Hale End academy, the 15-year-old made his first team debut against Leeds United in the Premier League earlier this season, helping his side win the game by earning a penalty.

The Englishman became the youngest ever starter for the North London club after featuring against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup fourth round fixture last week, breaking Jack Wilshere’s record.

The forward even became the youngest player ever to play in the Champions League after coming on as a substitute against Slavia Prague on Tuesday, breaking Youssoufa Moukoko’s record. Mikel Arteta’s side comfortably won the game 3-0 with Mikel Merino scoring a brace.

After the game, Trpisovsky heaped praise on Dowman and said (via Metro) that it is ‘extreme’ to see a player of his age playing at this level. However, his performance level and qualities don’t show that he is still that young. Dowman is technically sound and is ‘incredible’; moreover, he is already a ‘great player’.

Tripovsky said:

“It definitely is but if you see him on the field, you wouldn’t say that. He had resilience, for example in a duel at the line, of course the substitute player is always fresher and has more strength, but he withstood big things. His technique is great.

“At fifteen years old, he is an incredible extreme at this level. For Arsenal, another great player, who will be produced from their own incubator to the top level. Which is the hardest thing in a big club.”

Dowman receives plaudits

Dowman is certainly a highly talented player and possesses the potential to become one of the world’s best players. However, he needs to stay humble and continue working hard to reach his full potential.

Moukoko was also considered one of the best young talents in the world a few years ago, but he wasn’t able to stay on the right path to fulfill his potential. Borussia Dortmund eventually decided to sell him permanently last summer. So, Dowman needs to learn from the German’s mistakes.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have continued to display impressive performances this season, winning their last eight consecutive matches across all competitions without conceding a goal.

Now, they will travel to the Stadium of Light to face off against in-form Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday.
